OIF Canada Corn Roast

In September, Past Governor Lyle Merriam and wife Debbie hosted a corn roast as a fund raiser for OIF Canada and provided an opportunity for great fellowship. The site was their farm some distance from any community, so Lyle needed to put up a hint as to the location.

Then, they harvested a bit of their garden to provide that fall flavor.

The signs did their job and guests started to arrive. Bill Scott, US OIF President for 2008-9 dropped in with relatives from Jeffersonville, Indiana (1400 miles) to be greeted by Sharon, wife of OIF Canada President Gary Cross from Regina (30 miles).

Gary continued to collect from arrivals.

Past International President J. Wayne Smith from Independence, Missouri (1100 miles) and Past International Board member Ron Huxley from Ontario (1600 miles) can’t believe that Gary is not asking for more money.

Lyle got ready to serve.

And then the weather changed.

Optimistically, Marnie, wife of AMS & NW DFR Duane Kelly puts up an umbrella for perennial Optimist Irene Temple.

Oops. Lets try that again.

Time to move indoors and count the cash.
