There are many ways to contribute to the Optimist International Foundation:

Dime a Day

Credit Card Gifts

Most gifts to the Optimist International Foundation are cash contributions, allowing donors the ability to receive full tax benefits if they itemize. Donors can deduct the value of their gift up to 50% of their adjusted gross income. If the deduction exceeds that amount in the year the gift was made, they can carry over the unused excess to offset income during the next five years. For the donor’s convenience, the Foundation also accepts MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express .

E-Gifts

The Electronic Funds Transfer Program is a convenient way donors can make contributions. A donor can save time and money by authorizing the Foundation to make automatic withdrawals from their bank account. Please click here for the EFT Gift form.

Restricted and Unrestricted Gifts

The majority of the Foundation gift support is unrestricted. This permits the Foundation to use such funds where they are most urgently needed and to respond to new opportunities and initiatives as they occur. Donors may, however, choose to designate gifts for one or more of the specific programs supported by the Foundation. Any gift may be given on a confidential basis and/or made anonymously. The donor may direct the Executive Director specifically on how such gifts are to be handled.

Matching Gifts

Many companies have Matching Gift Programs in which the company will double, and sometimes triple, the amount the employee contributes to a qualifying nonprofit organization. Check with your employer for specific guidelines and appropriate forms.

Insurance Policy Gifts

Gifts of insurance policies to a charity are tax deductible and are often an affordable way to make a substantial gift. Donors can irrevocably transfer ownership of an existing policy to the Optimist Foundation or establish a new Life Insurance Policy in which the Optimist Foundation is the irrevocable owner and beneficiary and the insured is the donor. Premium payments by the donors are tax deductible. If a donor is interested in purchasing insurance for giving purposes, the Optimist Foundation recommends that the donor establish an Endowment Plus Insurance Policy.

Bequests

A bequest is a transfer, by will, of personal property such as cash, securities or other tangible property to the Optimist International Foundation. For additional information on including the Foundation in your will, click here.
